Student life

At St. Mary Catholic School we pride ourselves on being the best Catholic School in the Spokane Valley because of the knowledge our students receive while in our care.  The best teachers in the Spokane Valley present our excellent curriculum.  We also are very keen to introduce challenges to our students to help them grow in our programs and activities by hosting events such as our spelling bee and speech tournaments.  These activities impart lifelong skills and knowledge to help students prepare for high school, college, and future careers.  

One of the key aspects to educating the whole child is making sure that a student is involved, engaged, and have chances to socialize outside of the classroom with their peers.  At St. Mary Catholic School, enrichment is an integral part of our education process.  We provide opportunities for afterschool sports and athletics with excellent coaches, equipment, and facilities! We encourage the participation in clubs such as Scouting and Chess club to help build necessary survival and character skills, and student council to build future citizens with a voice in their community.  St. Mary Catholic School has an thriving music program for all of our students with options to join the choir and band.  We are especially excited that we give students faith based fun at our St. Mary Youth Group and RE nights.  

Our Catholic faith at St. Mary's is the most important part of our students experience as we help guide our students through what it means to be on a path to virtue.  We are charitable at our core: graciously looking for ways to give back to our parish, our greater Spokane & Spokane Valley community, and especially in the world.  We believe that we are just a small part of God's plan, but we can make a BIG difference with our acts of charity.  Ways we give back to our Parish are through various volunteer programs and by giving the opportunity to our students to alter serve.  We also have a yearly pajama drive and food drive- recognizing that we can contribute to the needs of those less fortunate in our community.  Also, new to St. Mary in 2024 we are reaching out beyond our school, parish, and spokane to help those across the globe by supporting Cross Catholic Outreach raising funds to give clean water to a community in Kenya.
